Secrets Never Told Page 26

“Maybe they will, in another lifetime, in another place. Now, let’s go inside before we freeze out here.”

  A NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR

Thank you for reading Secrets Never Told. If you’ve followed the Enid Blackwell series, you know each of my books was inspired by an actual event that touched me profoundly. Following my experience as an alternate juror for a murder trial, I wrote Secrets Never Told.

This story touched on sensitive racial and social issues, which I attempted to explore in a respectful manner. Please accept my sincere apologies if I failed in any way.

If you enjoyed Secrets Never Told, please post a review on www.Goodreads.com or on www.Amazon.com if purchased it there. Reviews help other readers discover new authors, which enables us to continue writing for you. Your feedback is appreciated.

I invite you to visit http://RaeganTeller.com to learn more about me and my work, to leave comments, or to ask any questions you may have.

  Thanks!

  ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

This page was the most fun to write, as I love to thank the people who helped make this book possible.

First and foremost, I want to thank my husband, the man to whom this book is dedicated. Without him, I would not be able to lock myself in Study Room 3 at Blythewood Library and write for hours on end. He manages our household, assists me in all phases of my work, and supports me unconditionally.

I also want to thank Dr. Bill Stevens, a Richland County Deputy Coroner and forensic anthropologist. He graciously walked me through the process for investigating “old” bones. Thanks to Major Harry Polis of the Richland County Sheriff’s Department for connecting me with Dr. Stevens.

One of the great things about writing is that you learn so much in the process. Roy Paschal is an artist and former forensic reconstruction instructor at the FBI Academy. His presentation and reconstruction demonstration were enlightening and invaluable to my story.

A special thanks to my beta readers, who helped me refine the first draft of Secrets Never Told: Carol Allen, Martha Anderson, Jane Cook, Earl Craig, and Irene Stern, who was also my final proofreader. As always, my developmental editor, Ramona DeFelice Long, also an author, provided excellent feedback, suggestions, and encouragement.

To my friends and family who are with me on this journey, I offer my eternal gratitude.

  ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Raegan Teller is the award-winning mystery author of the Enid Blackwell Series. She lives in Columbia, South Carolina with her husband and two feline investigators.

Each of Raegan’s books was inspired by a real-life event that touched her in some way. Since life doesn’t always make sense, she uses fiction to provide answers and to bring closure where there was none.

Before writing fiction, Raegan was a business writer and copy editor, a communications consultant, executive coach, and insurance manager—among other things. While working her way through school, she even sold burial vaults at a cemetery. How apropos is that for a mystery writer!
